part anthology. part magazine.
published quarterly.
Welcome to the mystic hour. My name is Deziré (pronounced duh·zai·ur). I’m a writer, photographer, former makeup artist and creative. My publication is named after an hour in the evening where the most sacred things take place. The Mystic Hour is a gathering place, a literary hearth, where I’m writing my manifesto: fantasy-work.
I’ve studied womanism, architecture, art, beauty and philosophy to share it with others. The works that most impacted me were Audre Lorde’s Uses Of The Erotic, Ursula K. Le Guin’s Language Of The Night, Alice Sparkly Kat’s Postcolonial Astrology, Seo Young J. Chu’s Do Metaphors Dream Of Literal Sleep, Donna Haraway’s A Cyborg Manifesto and many more great works of literature.
I am a major fan of science fiction and architectural digest. You may read about several of those interests at the mystic hour. Most importantly I’m creating and cultivating a space where women feel free to embody eroticism and honor their most sacred desires. To ask deeper questions. My publication is free but you can support by buying me a candle. As a subscriber you’ll get quarterly post about eroticism, culture, creativity, astrology, metaphor, reflections, personal essays and fantasy-work (the curriculum). Thank you for being a subscriber and I hope you are enriched by the material you read here.
With love,
Deziré.
